Before the war, the foot of this beautiful table served on a tool to drag trees out of the forest in the French Pyrenees. When I saw this beautiful piece of iron it had to go, I had no idea yet. Only later did the plan for a coffee table come about. A nice tabletop had to be found for that. Back in the Pyrenees I came across this piece of elm wood and took it to the workshop in the Netherlands. All that remained was to find the right table leg. After a few attempts that did not give the desired result, I went into the woods with a saw in my backpack. I was looking for something with multiple ends, three to four inches thick at the bottom, and it had to be dead already, preferably weathered but not rotten. After walking for a few hours and maybe separating a few cases, I came across this one and I knew this is it.
